Andalucía Journey
About This Journey
Andalucía occupies a singular place in the imagination of the Western world — the birthplace of flamenco, the crucible of Moorish civilization in Europe, a land where the scent of orange blossom fills ancient courtyards and horses dance with the precision of ballet. To travel through its five great cities is to read a manuscript written by Moors, Christians, Romans, and Gypsies across a thousand years.
NTC's Andalucía Journey guides you through the region's most transcendent experiences: the forest of columns inside Córdoba's Mezquita, the orange-tree courtyards of Sevilla's Alcázar, the white villages draped over the Atlantic cliffs of Cádiz, and finally — the Alhambra at Granada, perhaps the most beautiful palace complex ever built by human hands. All of this, accompanied by wine, cuisine, music, and the incomparable warmth of Spanish culture.
Where You'll Stay
Day-by-Day Itinerary
Arrival in Córdoba — The City of the Caliphs
Arrive in Córdoba — by AVE from Madrid or international connection. Check in to your boutique hotel steps from the Mezquita. The evening is yours: wander the narrow whitewashed lanes of the historic quarter and feel the weight of a thousand years settle around you.
Córdoba — La Mezquita, the Judía & the Royal Stables
Private guided visit to the extraordinary Mezquita-Cathedral — 856 columns of jasper, granite and marble forming an endlessly repeating forest of arches that defies all architectural logic. Walk the Judía (Jewish quarter) and visit the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos and its legendary gardens. Evening: the world-famous Caballerizas Reales equestrian show at the Royal Stables — Andalusian horses moving with the precision of dancers.
AVE to Sevilla — Alcázar, Cathedral & Flamenco Night
High-speed AVE train to Sevilla, Andalucía's passionate capital. Guided visit to the magnificent Real Alcázar — its Mudéjar courtyards and azulejo-lined halls a UNESCO World Heritage masterpiece. Then the grand Cathedral of Sevilla and its famous tower, La Giralda. Evening: a breathtaking tablao flamenco show — raw, passionate, and utterly unforgettable.
Sevilla — Plaza de España, Casa de Pilatos & Triana
A full day in the soul of Andalucía. The extraordinary Plaza de España — a semicircular canal plaza that feels like walking into a painting. The privately-owned Casa de Pilatos, Sevilla's most beautiful Renaissance palace. Then cross the Guadalquivir to the Triana neighborhood — birthplace of flamenco, cradle of the city's working-class pride, home to its finest ceramics workshops and tapas bars.
Puerto de Santa María — Sherry Bodegas & Ducal Palace
Private transfer to Puerto de Santa María on the Atlantic coast, in the heart of sherry country. Visit a historic wine bodega for a guided tasting of Fino, Manzanilla and Amontillado. Tour the extraordinary Palacio Ducal de Medina Sidonia. Drive through the fringes of Doñana National Park — Europe's largest wetland bird sanctuary.
Jerez — Feria del Caballo & the Bodegas
An unmissable day in Jerez de la Frontera: morning bodega visit followed by access to the magnificent Feria del Caballo — the world-famous Jerez Horse Fair, where Andalusian horse culture, flamenco dress, and sherry wine converge in a spectacle unlike anything else in Spain. Access to the private casetas (hospitality pavilions) included.
Cádiz — Europe's Oldest City & Bay Navigation
Guided tour of Cádiz — Europe's oldest continuously inhabited city, a white labyrinth on a narrow Atlantic peninsula. Its baroque cathedral, seafood market, rooftop city walls and salt-bleached light are unlike anywhere else in Spain. Bay navigation by boat from Cádiz back to Puerto de Santa María, views of the city's skyline from the sea. Afternoon bodega visit.
Transfer to Málaga via Ronda
Private drive toward Málaga with a stop in Ronda — a white town perched on the edge of a 100-meter gorge. Walk the Puente Nuevo bridge over the dramatic Tajo gorge and visit the oldest bullring in Spain. Continue to Málaga: guided visit to the Cathedral and a stroll along Calle Larios.
Málaga — Picasso, the Alcazaba & Atarazanas Market
A full day in the birthplace of Picasso. The Picasso Museum — one of the finest single-artist museums in Europe. The ancient Roman Theatre. The Moorish Alcazaba fortress rising above the city. And the magnificent Atarazanas Market — a 14th-century Moorish shipyard reborn as a cathedral of food, flowers and light.
AVE to Granada — Capilla Real & Sacromonte Flamenco
High-speed train to Granada. Guided visit to the Capilla Real — the Royal Chapel where Ferdinand and Isabella are buried. Then the baroque Cathedral of Granada. Dinner, then a flamenco cave show in Sacromonte — the Gypsy hillside quarter where the most primal version of this art form has been performed in carved-rock caves for generations.
The Alhambra — The Greatest Palace in the World
The day every traveler to Andalucía waits for. Unhurried visit to the Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens — perhaps the most beautiful building complex ever constructed: water, light, geometry and calligraphy woven into stone over two Nasrid centuries. Walk the Alcaicería silk market, then explore the Albaicín — the UNESCO Moorish quarter with views of the Alhambra and the snow-capped Sierra Nevada.
Departure — AVE to Madrid & International Connections
High-speed AVE train from Granada to Madrid for international flight connections. End of NTC services. You leave Andalucía carrying something that can't be bought — the scent of jasmine, the rhythm of flamenco, and the golden shimmer of a civilization that built paradise on earth and called it the Alhambra.
